Cthulhu Death May Die Season 4

I already have 4 big boxes of Cthulhu Death May Die in my collection. Is that a lot? I won’t go into that. I’m just playing here. Therefore, I invite you to a review of an expansion pack for one of my favorite games.

Emotions reach the sky

Season 4 offers us 6 different adventures. The first one takes place on a flying Zeppelin, in which we try to calm down the very nervous passengers. Passing this scenario was very difficult and was quite time-consuming. Because these pesky passengers were flying panicked around the deck, and we were trying to herd them into a pen like a flock of sheep. The next mission took us to a secret garden, where we replanted plants and dug for the truth. This adventure required us to plan our route well. Because we had to travel through several levels looking for the right passage. In terms of scenarios and variety of objectives, it was really good.

Explosive mix

In this addition we get 6 new heroes. To further diversify the pool of available researchers. My favorite one was John. With his action I could order other players to do something. A perfect character for Alpha Players… Although the most explosive hero turned out to be Gary. Because his dynamite moves were effective in killing wounded enemies.

We also got new insanities. We had the most fun with Identity Disorder. It forces us to choose 2 different insanities that we will switch between. We had a lot of fun with it. Because I still had Induced Psychosis in one game, which made me resolve the insanity of another Researcher within 2 spaces. The result of all this was a researcher, but in several people.

The Penguins of Massachusetts

The new opponents from this addition are also very interesting. Mainly because of their appearance. Because we will be frightened by Cthulhu AT-ATs, murderous penguins, Dobby from Harry Potter and other strangely twisted monsters. So, such is the standard of Die games.

However, the main fiddle here is played by Nyarlathotep. This new Old One of course, in addition to a great figure, has very interesting mechanics. Each scenario he will start on the board in humanoid form. However, when we complete a ritual or when he decides to visit us then his great winged form will land on the board. It’s simply sensational and impressive like a spicy kebab with salmonella. Nyarlathotep as the main boss has literally everything. He teleports, summons new enemies, starts fires and still heals himself. In terms of all the Great Old Ones, he is quite challenging, but I like him for that.

He also has a bit of a special place in my heart. Because, together with friends, we are currently playing the game of the Call of Cthulhu: Masks of Nyarlathotep. A very elaborate RPG campaign that I can’t wait for the finale. Apparently we only have 2 sessions left to finish.

The plastic in Campaign 4 is great. Although Bruno and Anika do have a bit of a loose base. Because of which they were sometimes able to lose their shoes. Do you also have this problem?

Summary

Season 4 is just as good as the previous ones. Still every game of mine was accompanied by awesome excitement, and the Cthulhu compatibility of all the boxes means that I will still collect everything that comes out for Cthulhu Death May Die. Because it’s one of my favorite games.

Final verdict: A true madness that will literally knock your socks off.
